Project Description:
Upgrade the utility feed to the NREL south campus from 10MW to 15MW. This involved installation of additional infrastructure for the 13.2KV system with new equipment and enhancing the power loops that feed the entire campus. The underground medium voltage distribution system upgrade included concrete encased ductbank that utilized installation of 8 new electrical vaults, 16,000lf of 5″ PVC conduit and 691 CY of red concrete. There was over 55,000lf (over 10 miles) of 500mcm 15KV cable pulled and tested through the ductbanks, as well as through existing conduit to rework and enhance campus power loops. The addition of 4 new Vista Switches completed the upgrade.
